No artist truly makes work alone. This is a panel discussion exploring the people around the artist: from friends and collaborators, to enthusiasts and collectors. The evening will feature three amazing artists as well as an immersive art experience.
What to expect
We are excited to bring you three of the most exciting artists creating today for this discussion on the diverse community of influences, collaborators and supporters that surround an artist. Hosted by Anna, Founder, Modern Black Art, this event is the first in our MBA Conversations series which aims to bring you into conversation with living artists and leaders in the art world.
The panel
Ken Nwadiogbu
Multidisciplinary artist
Nigerian-born, London-based artist working across painting, sculpture, installation and video, first known for his hyperrealistic charcoal portraiture.
Lawrence Meju
Visual artist and designer
London–Lagos based artist whose vivid paper collages draw on surrealism, memory and everyday life, work he describes as a visual journal. An architecture graduate, he lets the two disciplines feed each other.
Joke Amusan
Artist
German-Nigerian artist based in London. Through embroidery, installation and sculpture she explores Black womanhood, heritage and migration, and has exhibited at Tate Modern and the ICA. She founded She Stands Firm, a platform for women of colour to share their stories.
